Its Cleaning Time

Cleaning your home is an ongoing job for everyone. Whether it is grease and grime on your glass cooktop or an odour in your refrigerator - cleaning can be a dirty job. Whirlpool Canada would like to provide you with some effective ideas to help conquer these cleaning obstacles. We also provide a wide selection of Whirlpool® Home Care Products for all your appliances, including Cooktop Cleaner and Protectant!

Topics:

1. Stains in the microwave can slow cooking time

Microwaves are absorbed by food and cannot tell the difference between food on the walls or food in a dish or other containers. Cooking can be slowed when a build-up of food particles on the walls or floor of the oven absorb microwave energy.

Make it a Habit - It is easy and convenient to clean your oven after each use with a paper towel and Whirlpool®Whirlpool® Microwave Cleaner which is easy to use, non-abrasive and Kosher certified.

2. How to get rid of odour in your refrigerator

Whirlpool has a product specifically designed to clean and refresh both refrigerators and freezers. Just spray the Whirlpool® Refrigerator Cleaner on spills, soil or splatters. For heavy spills, allow the cleaner to penetrate for a minute or two. Then wipe with a soft cloth.

Whirlpool® Refrigerator Cleaner is easy to use, non-abrasive, and never requires rinsing. Leave your refrigerator or freezer with a sparkling clean, fresh smelling scent-inside and out.

Another method that helps odours disappear is the use of freshly ground coffee. Place the coffee in cereal bowls inside the refrigerator for several days. A slight coffee odour can remain but after washing the inside of refrigerator it will soon disappear.

If the above methods do not satisfactorily take care of the odour problems, it may be that the wet drippings from meat or fish may have leaked into the insulation. This problem would require service by a refrigerator technician who may have to remove and replace the insulation.

3. Cleaning your glass or ceramic cooktop

Cooktop Cleaner is important for cleaning and conditioning the ceramic glass. If it looks like the paint has been removed or has disappeared from the Cooktop, the actual problem is that the surface debris that needs to be cleaned. For best results, use the Whirlpool® Cooktop Cleaner and Polish along with the Whirlpool® Cooktop Protectant Applicator and the Cleaning Pads. It is important that whatever you use to clean the cooktop surface with should be clean and not have residual debris from washing dishes or cleaning counters.

A hint:

When applying the Cooktop Cleaner to debris that has hardened and is difficult to remove, massaging the creme into the area with fingers helps. The warmth from the fingers seems to aid the whole process. Do not do this when the Cooktop is still warm - the hot indicator light (off) is the guide to when you can clean the Cooktop.

5. Clean those refrigerator coils

Its important to clean the refrigerator coils once or twice a year. The refrigerator will run less, use less electricity, operate more efficiently, and last longer.

The refrigerator has a compressor that forces refrigerant through coils in the freezer and on the refrigerators exterior. Evaporator coils in the freezer remove heat from inside. This heat is emitted into the room through the exterior condenser coils.

The coils look like thin tubes, sometimes with connecting fins like a radiator on your car. Some coils are mounted at the rear of the refrigerator. Other are located below the refrigerator, where a fan moves air across the coil. When you stand next to the refrigerator in the winter and feel a warm breeze at your feet, it means the condenser coil and fans are working.

If the exterior condenser coils become dirty, they are less efficient at transferring heat into the air around the refrigerator. To clean the coils, you can carefully vacuum them or remove stubborn dust with a Condenser Cleaning Brush (part # 4210463)..

If your refrigerator has coils and a fan below the refrigerator, you will need to remove some access panels to reach the coils. We suggest that you follow the specific instructions for your refrigerator and unplug the unit before you attempt to clean the coils.

Cleaning is simple! You will be amazed at how much lint and dust has collected on the coils. If you have pets, you need to clean the coil more often.
